LGA Food Committee Inauguration: Osayande steers,Committed to healthy preservation Initiatives.
The Chairman, IKPOBA OKHA Local government Council has placed a premium interest on healthy food preservation initiatives within the Local government Council.
He made the declaration recently during his meeting with the newly Inaugurated state committee on food and Nutrition at the Council Secretariat Idogbo
The council Boss who expressed optimism on the initiatives, urged stakeholders to embrace it, stressing that it will add valued steam to the already existing policies developed by his administration.
Osayande further maintained that, evidences of his administrative practical efforts so far implemented include, market clean-up, regular environmental health programmes, clean farm produce basically managed by the environment/health and agric departments of the council
He added; "at Ikpoba-Okha, our primary target is the total wellbeing of children and women, to this end, we have set up a multipurpose farm for production and extension programmes at Ukhiri Community.
It is fashioned for the production of fishery, piggery, poultry and other crops within an environment healthy enough for production."
The council chairman however directed the Departments of Health/Environment and Agriculture to make available Council's policy on food and nutrition to the committee for upward review
Earlier in her Remarks, the chairperson of the state committee, Mrs Vera Obadan reiterated her zeal to deliver.
She disclosed that the committee would do all within its disposal to identify efforts established by various institutions to tackle malnutrition in the state to complement federal Government efforts on improving the welfare of its people.
Obadan said the precondition for nutritional wellbeing of the people will help provide necessary professional assistance to the Secretariat on food and nutritional initiatives that would have direct impact on the communities.
