Ahead of the 2019 annual convention of Edo nation association worldwide, bill to take place August in Washington DC, the capital city of the United State of American later this year, some Edo indigenes have express dismay in the choice of the organising committee settling for a non Edo indigene artist as the musician to trill the Edo nationals.
The latest is coming from a Nigerian America base record label owner, Mr Richard Iyasere, CEO daddyrich productions DRP, New York. He said the choice of having a non Edo artist coming to perform in the gathering of Edo indigenes affair is very counterfactual at a time when all Edo's both in Nigeria and diaspora is expected to join forces with our royal fathers especially that of the Oba of Benin, Oba eware II who has continually sued for the propagation of the rich culture of the Edos.
Mr Iyasere said Edo national convention worldwide, ENAW, is suppose to be a platform to showcase to the world the rich culture in Edo land and not bring another artist who will come and propagate, promote and showcase another culture using the hard earn income of the members who are 100% Edo people.
" i don't like criticism but i have to say this concerning this very even, I'm so disappointed that they said, a non Edo musician won the vote as the artist to perform at Edo convention this year. The organisers goofed this time, Edo convention is to display our cultures, tradition and entertainment, we have young good and vibrant Edo artist like Influence Akabaman, Uyi Cole (TOB) and others even good comedian like HRH mc askibobo, Okobo name them. This is a slap on our face and we must correct it now, we must promote our Edo entertainers with this kind of platform.
" I do more cultural entertainment promotion here in New York, I have single handedly brought so many Nigerian artist to perform in the whole of northern America. The latest would have be last year during the Go Africa network cutural exhibition when about ten of them was to perform in mahatma, new York but something happened along the line, if I don't propagate Edo affair am cheating myself.
All these put together was what earned me the title of the Enogie of New York, here in USA, with this title, am moving a motion that this decision should be revisited and a change be made, an Edo artist be contacted for this event. Mr Iyasere added
The DRP boss noted that, the aims and goals of the convention could be defeated if the right artist are not contacted for the job.
Also an Edo based philanthropist, president Godsent foundation, Amb. Dion Osagie and Mr Etin Odiase, CEO horoscope entertainment in their submissions and views also condemned the choice of organisers in sorting for the services of a non Edo entertainers for a gathering that is suppose to be a cultural exhibition affair for the edos.
