13-million BEDC bribery allegation not true - Edo Hon. member

The Principal aid to Hon.Chris Okaeben, member representing Oredo West Constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Osunbor has described the recent rumor on social media, over the N13m bribery  allegations by Benin Electricity Distribution Company(BEDC) against his boss as falsehood peddled by detractors from the pit of hell.

Hon Okaeben is the Chairman, house Committee on Power and Water Resources.

Osunbor made the disclosure while speaking to newsmen in Benin saying that, the rumor mungers are few elements who is head bend on distracting his boss and also seeking for relevance from their narrow shapeless habitat.

According to him 'the rumor or allegation is a follow up to the continuous  heightened derogatory bribery allegation geared towards misinforming  the public and the good people of Edo state, the statement is mischievous, untruthful and baseless.

"The attention of Honourable Chris Okaeben have been drawn to the allegations making the rounds on Social media titled," This is a short story of our experience with the Committee on Power and Water Resources of Edo State House of Assembly sometimes ago" orchestrated and falsely dispensed to fanning ember of distrust amongst others and a probable way of steering potential hate on the target.

''my principal who is the chairman of the committee will never conspiring with the distribution company to blackmail his people, as alleged by Edo Civil Society Organizations, (EDOCSO)''.

"the allegations is a deliberate ploy to smear the name and  legacies of Honourable Chris OKAEBEN's proactive dispositions in ensuring that he delivers more dividends of democracy across board through his position"

He initially resolved to overlook it and focus more on his corporate responsibilities as committee chairman as he engage more on how BEDC will  provide electricity to the state.

But seemly for the records and acrimonious tendency the post would have generated we decided to set the record straight.

We are aware that since the day they hatched the decision to allow kola Edokpayi contest the position that my principal presently occupied a lot has be going on by these rumor mungers.

''let me take you guys on the memory Lane,  You will recall that the first ever protest recorded against BEDC that was organized by joint Civil Society Group when Honourable Ativie was speaker was embraced  and participated by Okaeben, he place the people first in what ever he is doing"

Although, it is worthy of note  that some time in the past when Honourable M.D Igbas was the committee Chairman, the coordinator of EDOCSO, Leftist Omobude Agho and other members were invited to the house, this is not strange to Honourable okaeben.

They presented two issues before the committee. The estimated Billings and metering system which had become a very serious issue.

They are aware the committee told BEDC management that it will no longer be tolerated to continue with the estimated Billings. By then he also told them that as Honourable member he also face the same problems.

At that time it is necessary to set the record straight. Every one knows that a matter before the court of law no one has the right to speak on such. Hon. Okaeben interjected and cautioned omobude against luring the committee to go against the rules, it is unethical to bypass and jump wires. It could blow up a transformer and course more damage.

"On the part of the 13 million allegations, I urged the society to disregard such derogatory posit against my principal, Hon. Okaeben as he prefers to engage people with special initiatives that will drive the willing zeal of the state governor on improving on the established structures of his predicessor in his constituency.
