Insurance lift Edo FA Cup
Bendel Insurance FC of Benin today defeated FC De-Leo also of Benin today in a shootout to win the 2019 Edo FA Cup.
The Benin Arsenal won the cup 5-4 in a nervy shootout after the game had ended goalless in full time regulation time.
Insurance number one goalkeeper Amas Obasogie was excellent in goal and was match winner for the new Edo champions as he stopped three shots and scored the winner against former Super Eagles keeper Ambrose Uanzeki who also showed class but defeated.
Insurance narrowly lost the cup to Dynamite FC of Iyamho in 2018.
Insurance hard working striker Imade won the golden boot of the tournament while Ambrose Uanzeki of FC De-Leo won MVP.
Highlights of the closing ceremony was presentation of medals to the various winners by the state sports commission chairman, Barrister Dudu Orumen, Commissioner for Wealth Creation,Barrister Emmanuel Usoh with the FA chairman, Hon Frank Ilaboya.
Meanwhile, BJ Foundation earlier in the day won the third place game after beating Sunsel FC 2-0.
