A returning Federal Lawmaker of the 9th House of Representatives Hon. Patrick Aisowieren representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in Edo State has vow that there is no going back on the choice of Femi Gbajabiamila as the next Speaker of the federal House of Representatives.
Aisowieren spoke at Abudu the headquarters of the Federal Constituency during the inspection of some road projects in the area emphasized the need to have a robust, experience and cooperative house leadership to drive the next level agenda of the APC led federal government.
He said the speakership aspiration of Mr Gbajabiamila is to stabilise the Green Chamber.
"On the issue of where I stand regarding the house leadership, without mincing words, let me say I am a politician that abide by the rule of unity of purpose. We led a campaign anchored on next level and Nigerians freely gave us their mandate which must be guided jealously. We want to see the APC led federal government succeed better than the previous outing, and the party in its wisdom have consulted widely and arrived at the decision to feed Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila on the ground of his good track record, experience as a federal lawmaker and a legal practitioner.
We want an atmosphere that can guarantee stability in the polity and the National Assembly (NASS), that is what we need if the country is to attain the desired economic, political and social growth. All of us in APC have sufficiently behind him to lead the house in the next four years.
While acknowledging the endorsement of Gbajabiamila by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisowieren
noted that the support for his aspiration goes beyond the party’s endorsement as all member elect for the 9the assembly are confident of him.
"As a ranking lawmaker from the same state with our party National Chairman, comr Adams Oshiomhole, we have no choice than to be of good example, We are optimistic that the decision of the party in the leadership of the house is for the overall benefit of the nation. We have tried a legislature that is opposed to the executive and Nigerians have said it did us no good. It's time to do it the other way round and expect a different result for good."
As an experienced Lobbyist and a game changer, i will give my all to ensure bajabiamila succeeds against odds from our opponents particularly loyalists of the current Speaker of the House Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
Aisowieren is a known force in Edo South politics having won in every election he has contested till date against established sabotage by chieftains of the APC in his area in the 2019 general election which handed PDP the Senatorial seat of the district. He's said to be loved by the ordinary constituents for his unassuming nature, accessibility and generosity. Beyond that, the lawmaker is taunted as having the highest record of constituency projects in Edo State since 2007.
Though the last is yet to be heard of the decision of protesting voices within the rank of the APC and how the leadership will be able to accommodate the different interest and come up as one formidable force that will be extremely difficult to challenge at the floor of the house.
