As part of his effort to tackle the menace of kidnapping, armed banditry and other criminal activities rampaging the council through formation of a Central Vigilante Group, Chairman, Ovia South West Local Government, Comr. Destiny Enabulele, has pledged the inclusion of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in the formation of the central vigilante group.
Enabulele who spoke o Tuesday while receiving the local government executive members of the Gani Adams led OPC who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Secretariat, Iguobazuwa, stressed that the council had resolved to partner the group as a member of the local central vigilante group for the purpose of home brew community policing aimed at banishing criminality out of the area.
According to the statement made available by the special assistant to the council chairman, Freeman Aghedo, Enabulele urged members of the Yoruba defence group to put more effort in tackling the menace of kidnapping and other criminal activities within the local council, stressed that his government is ready to partner and support the group to achieve success in making the area crime free.
The leader of the OPC delegation and Ovia South west local government coordinator, Comrade Roland Ovherhe, while delivering his message, noted that the territorial protection of Ovia South West Council is germane and dear to the group.
He also expressed willingness of the group to partner with the Nigeria Police Force, relevant government security agencies, other security organizations and traditional rulers, to protect lives and properties and complement efforts of all security agencies towards community policing.
