A Benin-based pastor, Godstime Oshodi of Grace Chapel International, has apologised to the people of Edo State over a political comment made by him that was alleged to be derogatory, which has gone viral in the social media, just as he called for protection from various security agencies in the state over threat to his life.
It was claimed that Pastor Oshodi, while preaching in one of his Sunday service, allegedly liken the Binis to fowls that can easily be baited with corns.
It was also alleged that he instructed his members not to vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in the forthcoming election in the state and this video is currently trending in the social media.
Addressing journalists in Benin, the cleric said he was so sorry for making such a comment and that he never meant it that way.
“In that regard, if I made such a statement, it was only an adage and I never meant to insult anybody because I am a Benin man and if I insulted them I am equally insulting myself. I only told my members that these two people who are contesting are Benin men and why must we be fighting ourselves? That is what I meant by what I said and I did not mean that they are fowls”, he pleaded.
