Edo: Why we could not trust Ize-iyamu with our votes - Engr Ovbieko

...says APC becoming obsolete

A member of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Engr Osaretin Ovbieko has described the just concluded Edo governorship election a turning point for the people of the state.

He said there was visible indications that the people needed to reward trust found in Gov Godwin Obaseki with re-election against the distrust which has become part of the candidate of the APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu who has consistently be moving from one party to another in quest for power.

Why speaking to Journalists in concerning the Saturday 19 guber poll, Engr Ovbieko who hails from Ugbighele, Ugbogbo ward same political ward with Ize-iyamus narratted that the issue of trust contributed majorly to the heavy defeat experience by the opposition party and their candidate.

He said there was no way the people of Orhionmwon LGA would have trusted Ize-iyamu more than Gov Godwin Obaseki who is a know performer have been tested for the past three years of his first tenure.

According to him, 'Ize-iyamu have been in goverment since the 80s but he has done nothing, We don't trust him, we believe Obaseki more than him

'It was a protest vote across board, especially from the youths, it was a clarion call to retire the old order, we the youth have suddenly realized that we must change the narratives.

It was the youths that decided Ize-iyamus' faith in Orhionmwon. We know Obaseki may have written Orhionmwon council off his winning formula because his major opponent (Ize-iyamu) hails from there but there was no way we could allow that.

He noted that it is the hope and expectations of Orhionmwon people that the governor settles down as quick as possible, rewards the LGA massively with good roads, electricity, basic social amenities to command huge multinational investment; We have natural resources that can develop the whole Edo state.

'I defeated one of the aspirant who contested against Ize-iyamu in APC Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi, a former minister of the federal republic of Nigeria in my unit, he ran way because the defeat was more than what he could beer. I rallied my youths with the help of my developmental brothers especially Mr Bright Iyamu.

'APC is gradually becoming obsolete, by 2023 after Buhari, the party will be no more in Nigeria.

'You know that truth work inline with conscience, so, conscience and trust worked against the APC and it's candidate. Haba check the margin between APC and PDP from the total vote counted and released by INEC. Abeg, I thanks President Buhari for allowing free, fair and credible poll in Edo Engr Ovbieko added.
