The Edo Zonal Commander of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) said has rescued no fewer than 52 victims of human trafficking in the third quarter of this year.
Mr Nduka Nwanwenne, Zonal Commander of the agency comprising Edo and Delta, gave this information in Benin on Thursday that the rescue was made from July to September.
According News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) he said, within the period under review, 15 suspected human traffickers were arrested.
He disclosed that 37 cases were reported within the same period, while the zone secured one conviction,with 34 cases still pending in courts.
Mr Nwanwenne said, the Edo judiciary had designated two courts to handle cases of human trafficking saying with this new development, there would be speedy trial of human trafficking cases, thereby enabling quick dispensation of Justice.
