Rev. Samuel Ikpea, national chairman of Nigeria football supporters club,NFSC, has congratulated players of Bendel insurance football club of Benin City and Gov. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Rt.Hon Philip shaibu.
In a short chat with Journalists in Benin City, the state capital.
After the final game where they lost to Kada City FC 3-4 on penalties, Rev. Ikpea said, they boys showed their quality during the 1-0 triumph over shooting stars of Ibadan in the group final game in Aba to qualify the team for 2018/19 NPFL season.
According to him, "the team promotion to the top flight football league has restored the faith of its fans across the globe. Insurance promotion will bring commercial trafic to the state, as a football supporters, am proud of them, this is the right way I think a team can reward the state government for the massive investment in sports in the state especially football.
He said, insurance should not worry over their inability to deliver the cup and equally congratulated Kada City as champion of 2018 NNL.
"Governor Godwin Obaseki and his executives have written their name in the heart of all Edo indigenes for returning the team to NPFL, look at the appointment of Barr Dudu -Orumen as the chairman of Edo state Sports commission, that is a clear indication of his commitment to reviving sports in the state".
"How many state government in Nigeria can do what their Edo counterpart is doing, a deputy Governor playing for their own team, my dear is uncommon Ikpea concluded.
The NFSC boss, also commended the chairman of Bendel insurance football supporters club, Chief Osadolor Ogiefa who was consistently mobilising fans to cheer the Benin Arsenal.
