Saturday poll: JCI rally against electoral violence, malpractice

The Junior Chamber International (JCI), Benin Metropolitan has rallied against electoral violence, ahead of Saturday general elections.

"The peace is possible rally" held on Wednesday was held in partnership with Youth Inclusiveness in Governance (YIG) led by Comrade Osaro Onaiwu (Junior).

The active Citizens marched across major Streets, selected markets and the Central motor parks in Benin City.

Members of the non-partisan group, also circulated leaflets and brandished banners of diverse inscriptions such as "election is not war";  "Say No to vote buying/selling" and "We stand for peaceful elections".

Artisans, traders commuters and Pedestrians around Plymounth road, Ore-Oghene Street and environs, publicly pledged their rejection towards  electoral malpractices. 

President of JCI, Benin Metropolitan, Amb. Queensley Eboigbe, said the central theme of the exercise, was to rally the coalition of the willing and stakeholders to perform their Civic responsibility.

The Director of Peace is Possible, JCI, South South/South East, Nigeria Amb. Bevy Kpohraror, assured that a peaceful general elections can be achieved, if the electoral umpire and other Stakeholders shun casual indifference and compromises that can lead to unintended consequences.
