The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo state has presented certificates of return to the 24 elected members of the state House of Assembly, following their victory at the election conducted on Saturday, March 09, 2019.
Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Emmanuel Alex Hart presented the certificates of return to members elect at the INEC State office annex in Benin city.
Emmanuel urged the newly elected lawmakers to do their job diligently by making laws that will be of great benefit to their constituents, as well as representing the interest of the people.
“I implore you to extend your hand of fellowship and friendship to all both party member and none for the sake of continued peace and brotherhood which Edo State has become synonymous with other South-south States. Election is not war, not a do or die affair, it is only but a game of interest.
You should always at all time use your good offices which you are going to occupy after inauguration to make good laws for the good and development of Edo State.
“I urge any aggrieved person to approach the election petition tribunal already set up to seek redress in accordance with the laws of the land”, he added.
While giving the closing remake on behalf of the elected House members, Hon Roland Asoro, he thanked the people for the confident reposed on him and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their fair and transparent process displayed before, during and after the exercise in the state.
The Orhionwmon II house of assembly member assured electorate of effective legislation and quick response to issues of public concern. He said his second tenure in the legislative business is going to be more rewarding withing the six wards.
“We believe that by the grace of God, at the expiration of this tenure, I know that the people will look at what we have done and they will have course to give glory to God”.
Recall that there are several political parties that took part in the election, two were considered major contenders; which is APC and PDP.
Out of the twenty four constituencies in the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) won all seats in the house of assembly.
