Edo Queens retain Edo FA Cup after beating Fortress Ladies 3-0

Edo Queens FC of Benin on Sunday in their Ateo FA cup finals in Ekpom defeated Fortress Ladies FC by three goals to nothing (3-0) to retain Edo FA Cup.

Gladys Abasi opened scoring for the new Edo champions in early minutes of the first half before Regina Out made it 2-0 for the premier league side shortly before halftime whistle.

At resumption of the second half, the Fortress Ladies came out strong, looking like they were going to reduce the score line, only for Temitope Temidayo to increase the tally for Edo Queens just before the 90 minutes regulation time.

Speaking after the game, the Technical Director of the new Edo champions said he was happy his girls did not disappoint but proved that they are really champions.
"I am happy with the result and this is also a part of our preparation for the women national professional league.

The Benin based Queens also defeated the same opponents in the last season's finals decided at the Edo University Sports Ground Iyamho in Edo North.
