NCC score Edo Gov high on ICT
...Edo is telecom and ICT friendly

The Nigerian communications commission, NCC, has called on every states in Nigeria to emulate what the governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki is doing in the area of information communication technology, ICT and telecommunications stating that the state now takes leading role in the sector.
The executive commissioner (stakeholders management) of the commission, Mr Sunday Dare gave this call why delivery his keynote speech at the south-south stakeholder parliament with relevant agencies in charge of telecommunications matters in Benin city the state capital.
He said, the commission decided to hold the regional parliament in Benin, inline with the passion of the state government under Mr Obaseki placing technology and ICT at the heart of governance in the state, especially with the establishment of the ministry of science and technology to enhance the pace of development.
According to him, 'the recent commissioning of the 'Edo technology Hub' is reputably, the first state backed technology hub in the entire country. I can recall that his excellency met with the NCC leadership in Abuja sometime this year to explore opportunities for improving access to telecommunications infrastructure and providing Edo citizens with world class telecoms and ICT facilities.
Mr Dare noted that, choosing Edo State as the venue for the parliament is a strong reaffirmation of the state pride of place in ICT deployment.
He said, Edo has articulated a framework to attract robust telecoms infrastructure to drive manufacturing, education and other socio-economic activities.
'NCC is already supporting the state with fiber connectivity and computer laboratory services to the college of education in Benin city and the institute of continuing education, ICE, in Abudu'
The NCC commissioner gave the expectations of the meeting as one that will encourage everyone to buy-in to promote the message that telecoms infrastructure are critical to the socio-economic progress of every state in Nigeria.
