NPFL Under 15: Insurance beat Remo Stars 2-0 to Lead Group C...three players picked
Bendel Insurance youth team again put up a brilliant performance today in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, LaLiga under 15 Promises Tournament by beating Remo Stars 2-0 to lead Group C in Enugu center.
Insurance central defender Egharevba Osamuyi brilliantly took advantage of Remo Stars goalkeeper's error and calmly dropped the ball over his head into the empty net to put the Benin arsenal in front, 9 minutes into the game.
Striker Efe Ugiagbe won a penalty fight for his side and brilliantly converted same from the spot to make it 2-0 in the 35th minute.
Insurance kids now have a date with Ifeanyi Ubah FC tomorrow morning at the same Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. A win for the Benin arsenal kids tomorrow will see them through to the quarter finals of the tournament to be played in Lagos later in the month.
Meanwhile, three players of Bendel Insurance have been picked by officials of the tournament organising body for further development.
They are Efe Ugiagbe,Alakwe Godstime and captain Adamu Umoru Mosuru.
Speaking after the game, Insurance assistant coach and coordinator of the under 15 side, Greg Ikhenoba said he was happy with his side's victory and commended NFF and NPFL for the initiative. He urged the organisers to sustain the football development programme,insisting that such programme is key to overall advancement of football in the country. Coach Greg also expressed his appreciation to Edo Government, the sponsor of Bendel Insurance for the encouragement of the game in the state.
Also speaking, Insurance youth coach, Stanley Osazee Sheyi said he was happy his boys won the game. "We are sure of winning the rest two games." He added that he was more interested in the development of the kids than winning a game.
Remo Stars youth coach, Ogunmoye Oluwasheun Kehinde in his reaction said he was not disappointed with the result as he was happy his team used the tournament to showcase talents. "It is about development and not winning at all cost." He said.
