"The goal set for the institution is that students will graduate with entrepreneurial skills that will make them not only job ready but will also empower them to be employers of labour.

"The output from our university will contribute significantly through the knowledge and skills acquired to the development of Edo State in particular and Nigeria as a whole'

The Vice Chancellor also said  the University Council has approved 100 scholarships each to indigent students of Edo state origin and 5 undergraduate full scholarships for best applicants to the university irrespective of their state of origin.

On the number of graduands, he said 50 students were found worthy in character and learning and would be awarded Edo University Iyamho degrees in their various disciplines.

He said among the students, 5 of them graduated with first class honours, 26 with second class honours, (Upper division), 16 with second honours (Lower division) while three students earned third class honours respectively.

He said at the inception of the institution, the National Universities Commission approved the quota of 500 students for admission into the university but as  at today, it has been increased to 1,800.

"On inception in 2015/2016 academic session, the National Universities Commission approved the quota of 500 students for admission into the university.

"As at today, the quota has increased to 1,800. The student population at inception was 76, but today, for the 2019/2020 academic session, the student population has increased to 1,378.

"It is hoped that at the end of the admission exercise for the 2019/2020 academic session, because admission is still ongoing, the population will increase to over 2,000 students", he said.
