By Timothy Omobude
The indigenous contractors in Edo state have reacted to the rumor making round that the state Government under the current administration only award contracts to non indigenes of the state.
Chairman of indigenous contractors in Edo state Otunba Ahmed Ehi representing wecura Nigeria Limited, during a press conference in Benin city, the state capital said the state governor Mr Godwin Obadeki is totally in support of the submission that contracts/projects would be executed to the best specification if given to those who be, a direct beneficiary of such project.
He said the rumor is a deliberate misconception, that jobs allocation are usually given to outsourced contractors which is absolutely false and a probable way to tarnish the good image of the present administration in false light.
"The governor is rare versatile gem, a distinguished Edo lite and a selfless leader, whos leadership was orchestrated by our beloved comr Governor Adam Oshiomole whose legacy of evolutionary infrastructural development has culminated with the wake and see governor Godwin Obaseki"
"Oshiomole infrastructural legacy still remains in the sands of time. Today this innovative infrastructural development is been sustained by the present government"
Mr Osakpawman Kingsley one of the indigenous contractors from Orhionwmon LGA, the CEO of Osking ventures said the governor has open more opportunities for indigenous contractors to participate in his developmental agenda by awarding all the jobs in the state to contractors who are indigenes of Edo ranging from Edo south to Edo north.
He said, the impact of the former governor of the state and the present National Chairman of the APC has indeed transformed the political landscape an improved the socio-economic status of the Edos.
"I have handled mega construction projects/contracts for both federal and state govt and i have always deliver base on specification. So that idea of some people claiming that Edo contracts are given to foreigners is uncalled for. 'Na we dey handle our contracts and projects from state government. we have enough indigenous contractors handling and executing projects and contracts here, he concluded.
Higher point of the event was when the Edo indigenous contractor unveil over two hundred stickers in support of the state governor for continuity.
