Nurses and Midwives provide a broad range of essential health services, not just to mothers and families, but also to the community. They have essential roles at all levels of health care. Midwifery, where care includes proven interventions for maternal and newborn health as well as for other reproductive health issues, could avert over 80% of all maternal deaths, stillbirths, and neonatal deaths.

This will be vital if we are to achieve national and global targets related to universal health coverage, maternal and child health, infectious and non-communicable diseases including mental health, emergency preparedness and response, patient safety and the delivery of integrated, people-centered care, amongst others”, he added stressing that the kind of commitment and preparedness shown by the government should be sustained to make health systems get better which is one reason that has motivate Godsent foundation to distribute palliative materials to the people of edo State and beyond.
He also used the opportunity to call for support from the private sectors and other philanthropic individuals to ensure that nursing and midwifery workforces are strong enough to ensure that everyone, everywhere gets the healthcare they need.
